The Cross Keys Inn, Tebay, Cumbria - Saturday 29th September 2012
We had a great but short time in the new pub for us on the way to Carlisle. The buffet provided was excellent and the beer was very acceptable with a range of real ales as well as the normal lagers and ciders being available. There is a very good rear garden to sit in, also inside has a games room with darts & pool – however we couldn’t play pool as our buffet was laid out over it. Sky TV was also available – watching some of the Chelsea v Arsenal game before leaving for our march in Carlisle, about 40 minutes away. If any other supporters group want to stop off en-route to their game with Carlisle, give Tony Gerrard (an Evertonian) the Landlord a ring – details are on their web site The Inn is about 1 mile off the M6 junction 38 in the village of Tebay – just drive through and you will see it on the right hand side. You can turn the coach around about 400 yards down the road. We were able to park our coach on the front of the Inn facing the way back to the motorway. Would we visit again – most definitely. - for details visit their web site at www.crosskeystebay.co.uk
Saturday 29th September's trip to Carlisle will always be remembered by those who traveled on the GH coach – We were traveling along the M25 just past the Leatherhead junction at about 6.15am – we notice a coach and a couple of vehicles parked on the hard shoulder – with a couple of people trying to warn us about some spillage, what we know now was diesel on the road – we pulled out into the middle lane – a few more seconds and we noticed a car stopped across the outside lane – obviously part of what had just happened – then suddenly a car came across in front of us from the outside lane to avoid the stationary car – screeching tyres and smoke, spinning out of control – for a split second it looked like we were going to hit the car broadside, Kevin put the brakes on, pulled hard down on the steering wheel we then just avoided hitting the car – I don’t know how, but then we were now going towards the central barrier, Kevin again pulled hard on the steering wheel in the opposite direction and we pulled away and hit nothing – the back of the coach swerved for a few second before it came back under control – brilliant piece of instinct driving – had we hit anything, I shudder to think was would have happened – we would not have made Carlisle. A bit shaken, like we all were, trying to come to terms with what had just accoured - Kevin still carried on driving, declining a break until we got to Warwick. We heard later that the motorway was shut for several hours – where we had the near miss – had we been involved it would have been shut for a lot longer. Thanks Kevin from all of us

Another great away overnight trip - probably the best Morecambe one to-date, except for the result of course - Food excellent, drinks cheap, Fireworks and "Fake That" performing live on the sea front in the evening.

The Buffet at The Lord Kitchener. I thought it was not only very good but SUPERB in both quality, quantity and value - John Aldred
28th AUG 2011
The Lord Kitchener pub was a delight, this is an old country pub with a large car park to accommodate the coach, good garden, good beers on offer, including Ruddles at £2.00 a pint, excellent buffet provided - one for future trips when we are down this way.

I would like to place on record my appreciation of the arrangements last Saturday which accommodated me superbly. I feel I may be a bit of a passenger with my "personal" requirements but I really do appreciate knowledge of the proposed stops for the forthcoming match and can plan accordingly. Strength to your elbow (and Kevin)

I just wanted to say thank you very much for rescuing the 3 youngsters who found themselves stranded in Tamworth. We are extremely grateful for your kindness in allowing the lads to come back on your coach.
